Introduction to Product Based Planning

Product Based Planning (PBP) is a central tenet of PRINCE2™. It is probably the least well understood and exploited aspect of PRINCE2™, so that its many benefits are rarely realised. In this short course you will learn the real power of PBP and how to gain the benefits for your projects. The course is suitable whatever your role in projects; it does not assume in-depth knowledge of PRINCE2™

Course duration: half-day If you need to develop your understanding and skills in PBP to greater depth, then, the Planning a Project module from our MasterClass maybe what you are looking for.

By attending this course you will learn that:

  • PBP is a powerful communication tool between all project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • You can gain the benefits of PBP irrespective of whether you use other components or processes of PRINCE2™.
  • With PBP you can more precisely control the scope of your project; focus only what is really needed to meet the business case!
  • PBP underpins quality control in your projects; team members, teams, sub-contractors know exactly what is expected of them - before they start work!

Course content includes:

  • Features and benefits of Product Based Planning
  • Where Product Based Planning is used - its application and benefits from Start-up - through Controlled Progress - to Controlled Close
  • Practical Issues in implementing Product Based Planning
  • Support Available
  • Discussion
  • PBP Clinic (bring your own examples)
